Guess what happened at our house today?

Five long years humiliating myself for your amusement.

Da Momma: Elizabeth, a journalist and college instructor. Formerly a latte-slinging, cell phone-talking Washington political junkie. Now a wild-dancing accidentally offensive woman with an irrational passion for flinging things on the floor and hanging things from ceilings. Wants you to think she's a grown-up, even though she calls her Dad the minute things get complicated.

Baby Eden: The Schmoopy. My sweet little Three, who shrank instead of grew. But she's always had Momma's back.

Mary: Devoted to hermit crabs and FREAKING OUT. Made me a mother.

Karenna: Peekaboo Streak. The Roodle, Doodley. Everybody knows about Roo. Passionate about folk music. Some werewolf tendencies. Always looking for new employees. Sophisticated vocabulary

Cute Husband, Esq: A former Marine, it was he who instilled in our daughters a love of getting up very early in the morning to go off and do things. Some days he's lucky he's still alive.
Moonbeam and Sunbeam: Yes, okay, somehow or other they got the same sorta names as our cats, Moonlight and Sunshine. That was a total accident. However, like the cats, they are super-cuddly, will get food for themselves if hungry, and they're part of the family. Like the rest of the family, they believe in the power of liquor, drugs, and hot glue. They have no fear of blood.

The Beasties: Two cats. And some cacti that refuse to die. This is a picture of a fish we killed a long time ago. Need to update that.
OMG I hope that is from a doll and not Ren…
Oooooh. I remember that crime scene (ours was darker hair with some loopy curls, but pretty similar other than that.) So who has the fetching new do?
Audrey, my first impulse is that either Ren cut Mare’s hair or her own. I think she’d have to sneak up on Mare to get away with that.
We had that at our house this year too, only it was all the bangs from a little red-haired boy.
Oh no!!! My son (3.5yo at the time) cut his twin sister’s hair. I tried to get it repaired, but it took us about 8 months for her hair to look somewhat decent.
I hope the damage is not too bad!!!
I think it’s Ren’s hair; isn’t Mary’s darker and thicker than Karenna’s?
Picture of the perpetrator, please . . . and her explanation, because I just know she had a good one.
oh. No.
Yes, let us see the perp with her new hairstyle!
Everyone knows about Roo
In my case, there was a wad of bubble gum smack in the middle of the hair pile… at least that provided an obvious excuse!
oh no, ren, you didn’t ….
Liz I will tell you the same thing I told my cousin about her spoiled kid “Your daughters are beautifull smart kids and you’re very lucky, but I do not envy you”
I honestly feel for when all three are older.
mine had a headband stuck and didn’t want to tell me and have me try to get it out. BAD solution, child. All of the scissors are up high now, in MY cupboard.
Oh yea… you know we’re going to want more pictures than this, right?!
It seems like a very even cut… that Renny is multi-talented.
Ooooooooh.
Oh. My. God.
There must be more pictures to this? Right?
Hermie……/shakes fist
Do tell….
That looks way too similar to the scene I found in my then-three-year-old’s bedroom a little over a year ago…. Her hair has since grown back nicely, but she had a very messy, very short pixie cut at first to try to repair some of the damage.
I have a very similar photo on my blog from about 3 years ago.
BTDT recently. My 2 year old will not stop cutting her hair. I had to hide all scissors, including the kiddie safety scissors because YES they do cut hair! But she’s good. She would run and dump all the hair she cut into the toilet, every time. She kind of looks like a rooster now.
Same thing happened at my house last Sunday, problem is, I don’t have any kids and…I’m 25 years old so, I have absolutely no excuses!!! Believe me, it’s better for her to do that mistake at her age, at least she doesn’t have the show up to work the next day! Anyway, thank God for hairdresser who can do damage control cause I have now a very cute (and short) bang for the first time of my life.
And just like everybody else, I do want to see some pictures of the disaster..hem, sorry, pictures of the new hairstyle!
Ooooohhh nooooooo!
That photo made my stomach clench up. I’ve witnessed that scene before, oh yes I have!
Luckily for me, the only hair I ever cut was my Barbies’. Now, at 19, I’m grateful there’s no photo albums of me with awkward chunks of hair missing.
Now that that’s said, LET’S SEE SOME PICTURES
ahhhh yes….I remember those days well!! My daughter is now 27 and she is a very succesful hairdresser/salon manager.
Please don’t tell me bangs (or new bangs) were involved.
Oooooooooooh Ren. I see a VERY cold bath in your future.
I cannot WAIT to see the picture!
And how come everyone assumes it’s poor little Ren who did it?
Oh my! Good thing she’s cute & fierce enough to pull off any look, even the micro-pixie. My girl won’t let me get her long hair trimmed. Does Ren take appointments? I really want to know how you went about disciplining that?
I once cut bangs for myself and my younger sister. My mom said our bangs were so short that they stood up like the crown on the Statue of Liberty. She took a picture of course. Can’t wait to see yours….
Everybody knows about Roo.
I take it she has a fetching new look that probably includes beautiful new bangs?
Oh no…Liz, you have to tell us more and please, please, please tell me there are pictures!
