"Oh, and the head is over here."

I laughed so hard I could hardly see the screen after that one. Thankfully, our cats are of the indoor sort and only bring catnip mice as gifts.

Too funny.

How many times can your firstborn utter the phrase, "Oh, and the head is over here" and have it be a source of relief?

LOL - brought back some memories of my old cat.

We lived on the edge of the state forest, so she had lots of fun. After six months or so, she finally figured out we were too dumb (or ungrateful) to eat the gifts she was bringin us (lined up neatly in rows outside the back door). So she started eating them herself - but continued to leave the entrails, lined up in neat little rows outside the back door, so we'd know she had done her job. ;)

One of the best dog photos we have is of Jasper stading at the back screen door with the dead squirrel in his mouth: "I brought dinner!" What a good dog...

Awwww! I miss my cat. He used to bring me all sorts of presents! LAst summer left us a big fat squirrel right outside the front door. My 4 yr old stepped on it with bare feet. Good old Bela. I miss him.

My cat brings me gifts too. I sometimes think he is sending me signals with the way he positions the pieces. One day it was two feet with a tail perfectly lined up between them. Sometime it's little heads looking up at the door. We have learned to look down before stepping outside!

Good for Moomite! My cat, Bandit, used to lie in the side yard and LEAP straight up in the air to catch bats, of all things. She adored my father, who was the one member of the family not too enamored of cats. One night, he rolled over in bed, and heard CRUNCH. Yup, she'd deposited a dead bat gift *in the bed* beside him. When he leaped out of bed, totally grossed out, his heel hit the second gift, which was waiting on the little rug beside the bed. He slipped and fell, landing directly on the second bat.

I recall learning many new and colorful words that night, as I leaned all my weight (and my desk chair) against my bedroom door, pleading "No, Daddy, don't kill Bandit! She was giving you GIFTS!"

(He wouldn't really have killed her.)

(I hope.)
